It just seems like a COMPLETE invasion of privacy. I knew/noticed that it uses the microphone/video beforehand and went ahead and taped over my camera. For all we know they could sit there and stare at you while they go to bed.ĭoes that not spell trouble to you? With professors not telling us it records over the camera, plus with us using it in (mostly) our bedrooms? They could sit there and rewatch it as many times as they want. They can access a video of you sitting in your own room for up to a year.
What they also didn’t tell us is that the video/audio is kept for A YEAR. But two of my professors instructed us to install this, without telling any of the students that it secretly records video and audio AND sends it to them. once i realized the camera only saw what i had in frame it was a wrap lmao.I don’t mind the lockdown browser part itself at all. as long as you're not super obvious idk how you would get caught. i never heard a word about from my professor. i've never been caught, i was only 'flagged' once because my laptop was tilted too far back and some of my face got cut off, it showed me on the screen and went back to my exam once i pulled the screen forward. i recommend (if you have a mac or whatever your laptop uses) turning on the camera on your laptop, so photobooth on mac, doing your set up, and going through the motions of 'cheating' to see how you look and adjust accordingly. also, it can only see what you show in the camera, after environment check i bring my phone out (still not in view of the camera just in case) and prop it up against my laptop screen (because unless its math and i have scrap paper/calculator there's no reason for me to be looking down, so with my phone against my laptop i mostly look forward and down minimally) low brightness, and try not to be loud with my tapping because the mic picks up a lot (though the sound could be anything to someone listening) (if you have a good quality stylus that would be a bonus but the one i had just took too much effort to use bc it was cheap and i looked down too much imo). it doesn't track your eye movements, how? between the poor camera quality, my glasses, and the glare it's just not possible. i've cheated with respondus in every class that i've had to use it in.
